Summary

Barry University’s School of Nursing (SON) is seeking a dynamic and innovative nurse leader to join its team as Director of Nursing Simulation to join its team. SON is home to nationally recognized undergraduate (BSN), graduate (MSN), and doctoral (DNP and PhD) programs. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications. The Director of Nursing Simulation is a leadership position within the SON responsible for the daily operations and strategic plan of the simulation program for all nursing programs, as well as financial and human resource management. This individual will collaborate with program directors, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to establish and achieve simulation program goals in alignment with the SON strategic plan. This director will also be responsible for developing faculty on simulation integration into all aspects of the curricula.

This is a combined faculty/administrative 12-month position and will be a vital member of the SON leadership team.

Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Directs the daily operational activities of the nursing simulation center.

  • Designs, coordinates, implements, and evaluates simulation-based learning activities utilizing recognized standards and evidence for students.

  • Collaborates with faculty to incorporate simulation activities into coursework, scholarship, and external community engagement.

  • Designs and implements on-going faculty development activities in the use of and incorporation of simulation within SON academic programs.

  • Oversees assessments and continuous improvement activities of the nursing simulation center.

  • Assists the Dean, Associate Deans, and Academic Program Directors in planning a budget that supports academic quality

  • Directs the daily operational activities of the nursing simulation center.

  • Designs, coordinates, implements, and evaluates simulation-based learning activities utilizing recognized standards and evidence for students.

  • Collaborates with faculty to incorporate simulation activities into coursework, scholarship, and external community engagement.

  • Designs and implements on-going faculty development activities in the use of and incorporation of simulation within SON academic programs.

  • Oversees assessments and continuous improvement activities of the nursing simulation center.

  • Assists the Dean, Associate Deans, and Academic Program Directors in planning a budget that supports academic quality.

  • Assists the SON leadership team in writing grants and acquiring funding related to technology and simulation.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for growth of the nursing simulation center that considers accreditation, certification, regulatory, instructional, and budgetary components.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Unrestricted and unencumbered current Florida R.N. license or eligibility.

  • Current Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification.

  • Record of teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor (will consider assistant professor rank on a case-by-case basis)

  • Progressively responsible and relevant administrative experience with simulation in an accredited institution of higher education.

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal, organizational, business and conflict resolution skills with the ability to effectively interact with students, external stakeholders, faculty, and staff from all levels.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the discovery of knowledge, inclusive community, collaborative service, and social justice.
